City Focus

Leeds has an estimated population of 800,000, making it the third-largest city in the United Kingdom. The city was a major mill town during the Industrial Revolution, but has become a retail and telephone banking centre following deindustrialisation. Leeds City Council has a vision of the city as ’capital of the north’, and the city has seen the fastest rate of private sector jobs growth in the UK. Leeds is served by five universities and has a large student population.
