In the quest for net zero, cities are having a blindspot. More than 1,100 cities are part of the Race to Zero campaign, but only a handful have plans for carbon removal. In this session, Christiaan Gevers Deynoot and Nikki Batchelor will delve into the challenges and opportunities for cities in advancing carbon removal in synergy with other city priorities. We will share insights from a soon to be published report by South Pole, XPRIZE and the Global Carbon Removal Partnership. The report is part of a wider initiative on cities and carbon removal involving C40 and the Global Covenant of Mayors as supporting partners.
