Acknowledging the impact of climate change, Europe has set ambitious environmental objectives to become a climate-neutral continent by 2050.
With rapid urbanization and transportation-related emissions playing a significant role in climate change and air pollution, cities are under increasing pressure to develop smart and efficient solutions to reduce their carbon footprint.
ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) holds significant potential in not only making mobility networks more efficient but also in reducing the environmental impact of transportation. The key point is to understand the uniqueness of each city, its challenges, and priorities and to work on co-creating solutions to unlock the potential of ITS. In this webinar, we will bring cities together with SWARCO, an industry leader in ITS, for bilateral learning on the challenges and potential solutions fuelled by a co-creative and proactive mindset.
During this webinar we’ll look at city mobility’s impact on climate change, discuss the European Green Deal alongside SWARCO’s GoGreen Initiative. We’ll also be address mobility pain points including:
We’ll be getting views from different European cities including City of Vilnius (Lithuania) - which will be Europe Green Capital in 2025, whilst also highlighting examples of how Integrated Transport Solutions support cities in their sustainability goals.
Anton Nikitin Chief Sustainability Officer City of Vilnius, Lithuania
Anton Nikitin is the Chief Sustainability Officer for the city of Vilnius, the next European Green Capital. He has been at the forefront of driving sustainable initiatives for quite some time and is coordinating the change towards ESG goals for the city. With a career spanning 8 years within the city, he initially contributed as a cycling officer, achieving significant milestones such as establishing new cycling standards and doubling the length of cycling infrastructure within three years. Later, as the Head of the Sustainable Urban Mobility division, he played a pivotal role in addressing Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) challenges. For more than 3 years in the position of Chief City Engineer, Anton led the city’s infrastructural transformations and policy advancements toward a more sustainable future. |

Robert Bednarski SmartCity Director Wrocław City Hall
A graduate of economics (Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin), project management (WSB University in Wrocław) and MBA studies (Franklin University of Ohio). Since 2006 he has been associated with the Wrocław City Hall. He was responsible, for the establishment of an in-house company implementing large investments, in which he coordinated tasks related to the organisation of the UEFA EURO 2012 European Football Championship in Wrocław, including the construction of the stadium. Since 2015, he has been developing the idea of Smart City and Wrocław City Lab. |

Dr Elena Patatouka Senior Project Manager and Researcher e-Trikala
Dr Elena Patatouka is a Senior Project Manager and Researcher at e-Trikala. She has a background in architectural engineering (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), including a master in urban and regional planning (National Technical University of Athens) and a PhD in urbanism (University Paris 8 Vincennes Saint Denis). She has participated as a PostDoc Researcher in EU-funded research of Copenhagen Business School, and worked in national research projects in National Technical University of Athens as well as a consultant in the private sector. Through her role at e-Trikala her main aim is to project her passion for first class urban mobility research by translating and adapting the latest scientific achievements to serve the everyday needs of modern policy making. |

As a Regional Innovation Manager in SWARCO, apart from leading the GoGreen initiative, Itir Coskun focuses on new trends in the mobility field with the aim to develop future-proof solutions in the context of ITS. She especially works in the areas of CCAM, MaaS, Multi-modal and Sustainable Mobility Solutions. Holding a Master of Science degree in Transportation Systems with the focus on ITS, Itir Coskun is still involved in academic activities and continues to learn and share knowledge internationally. With her academic background and experiences from several interdisciplinary and international projects, she is dedicated to shape the future of mobility that is sustainable and inclusive for all. |
