Ashley Goeken Vice Chair, Innovation and Technology Commission, City of Aurora
Ashley Goeken is a third-generation entrepreneur and technologist, recognized by the Chicago Tribune as "a voice in the global Smart City revolution." Inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), Ashley co-founded Opalus to create innovative solutions for building the sustainable cities of tomorrow, with the citizens at the heart of it all.
She serves on the advisory board for the Center for Applied Values and Ethics in Advancing Technologies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and mentors with Absolute Sum, a global initiative establishing university-based incubators. As an ambassador for the United Nations Association – Chicago Chapter, Ashley advocates for Global Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
A recent graduate of the prestigious Dubai Future Foundation’s Disruptive Futures Program, Ashley also serves as Vice Chair for the City of Aurora’s Innovation & Technology Commission, where she leverages emerging technologies to drive community-centered innovation.

Alex Foard Executive Director, Research and Collaboration, New York City Office of Technology and Innovation
Alex Foard is the Executive Director of Research and Collaboration at the NYC Office of Technology and Innovation, where he focuses on emerging technologies, specialising in AI policy, smart cities/IoT, and project/program development. Alex’s City career began at the Office of Management and Budget working on Hurricane Sandy recovery. He then led the central analytics team at the Department of Correction, before joining the Mayor’s Office of Operations, overseeing data and technology projects. Alex has BAs in Political Science and Italian from the University of Rochester, and an MPA from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. |

Luke has been reporting on the implementation of smart technologies that benefit citizens and the public sector since 2017.
He has a particularly keen interest in smart and sustainable mobility and its role in influencing the decisions of urban planners, citizens and governments alike.
As rapid urbanisation continues, he keeps his finger on the pulse of the myriad urban challenges facing local and central governments, making new connections in the public and private sectors and finding new angles from which to cover the latest smart city developments around the world. |
