Resilient Cities Network (R-Cities) is the world’s leading urban resilience network. We bring together global knowledge, practice, partnerships, and funding to empower our city members to build safe and equitable communities for all.
R-Cities co-creates urban solutions to address complex and interrelated urban challenges, so that cities and communities thrive. The Network focuses on three priorities to be delivered through programs of collective action with member cities: 1) resilient recovery to reinforce equity, to promote private-public partnerships, and foster stronger local economies in response and recovery to the Covid-19 pandemic; 2) climate resilience, cities need to be prepared to further build not only to protect citizens from water-related challenges but also to strengthen the capacity of communities to cope with the effects of climate change; 3) promotion of circular economies through indigenous and technological solutions to rapidly and sensibly enhance waste management and food systems.
Our mechanisms of delivery are: 1) empower cities to lead the network activities and exchange information to address their key urban challenges through a resilience lens; 2) support implementation by developing specialized assessment and evaluation tools and building a deep global knowledge base, and accelerating resilience practice within and beyond our member city network; and 3) mobilize resources from partners and funders to bridge the early stage project preparation gap for urban projects.
R-Cities builds on over ten years of investment in resilience from The Rockefeller Foundation and a Network of Chief Resilience Officers in more than 100 cities around the world. R-Cities is dedicated to helping cities around the world become more resilient to the physical, social and economic challenges that are a growing part of the 21st century.
