All cities want to become smarter to improve quality of life for citizens. Transport is central to this and a key focus area for many cities and authorities – after all, mobility affects all citizens directly. However, the range of options to solve challenges can seem almost as complex as the problems themselves.
This event, complete with panel debates and roundtable discussions, will help leaders from cities and local and regional government share knowledge and experiences, gather new ideas and find more clarity about the way ahead.
Register Here to join delegates from government and the infrastructure industry for practical insights and solutions to help deliver smart infrastructure solutions. Registration is free (applications will need to be approved by the curator).

Delegates will have a chance to ask questions throughout this session - making it as interactive as possible!
Transport-related issues are one of the key challenges for cities, impacting everything from health and safety to inclusion and more. At the same time, multiple changes are happening around us, from technology to consumer attitudes and even new, emerging modes of transport.
How do planners make sense of this and know where to start, where to focus and what to prioritise? What are the right targets to set and work towards? How do you get the transport mix right? Is transport management more complex or does it just seem that way? What has worked/failed?
What is the role of the private sector vs the city – e.g. issues around bike-share challenges.
Panellists: Daniel Clarke, Smart Cambridge Programme, Cllr Richard Livingstone, Southwark Council, Steven Norris, Norris McDonough LLP; Marcel Pooke, Team Leader - Technical Capability Team at Transport Systems Catapult. Moderator: Sarah Wray, Editor, Smart Cities World
Data has huge potential to improve mobility in our cities and we are already seeing results, from improved services and citizen experience to economic advantages. However, challenges remain, including 'data hygiene' and standards, the need for greater volume and variety of data, and questions about data's value and ownership. Where next?
Panellists: Michael Kehoe, AmeyVTOL; Dan Hubert, Appy Parking; Jon Jarritt, Director, Strategic Consulting, Amey Consulting; Paul Darlow, Traffic & Network Manager, Portsmouth City Council, Peter Wells, Head of Policy at the Open Data Institute (ODI).
Moderator: Sarah Wray, Editor, Smart Cities World
We will be running three roundtables during the afternoon. The topics include:
1. New Transport Modes (car share, ride share, bike share, scooter share etc)
2. Cutting Congestion
3. Gearing up for an Electric Future
Delegates will be free to join any of the roundtable discussions - which will be curated by SmartCitiesWorld editors.
The Start-Up Showdown!
During the course of the afternoon, delegates will have the chance to hear from the 10 finalists in the IM Accelerator Programme - an initiative run by Transport Systems Catapult and Wayra.
These new start-ups will have fives minute to outline their product, while delegates will be able to rate, rank and critique the offering using an interactive app.
Delegates will also have the chance to chat with these start-ups during the refreshment breaks and networking drinks.
