The projects address pressing urban challenges and span solutions focused on weather unpredictability, waste, wastewater, parking and cybersecurity.
Municipalities and private organisations are invited to apply for one or more pilot projects in the latest edition of Leading Cities’ AcceliGOV global smart city initiative.
The pilot projects have been specifically designed to address pressing urban challenges and span solutions focused on weather unpredictability, waste management, wastewater treatment, parking optimisation, and cybersecurity.
AcceliGOV is a global initiative designed to accelerate urban innovation by providing municipalities and private organisations with no-cost access to globally sourced, groundbreaking smart city solutions.
Each quarter, AcceliGOV selects and offers a suite of expertly vetted pilot projects. By participating in these pilots, cities and corporations alike can test and implement cutting-edge technologies that drive operational efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and improve quality of life.
“The Flash Weather AI pilot will change the way local governments look at the impacts of weather, transforming cities from reactive to all Mother Nature has to offer to proactive”
The programme aims not only to de-risk innovation for its participants but also positions them as leaders in the global movement towards smarter, more resilient urban futures.
Leading Cities invites municipalities and private organisations to apply for the latest pilot offerings by Friday, 7 February 2025. Each solution will host a number of information sessions to present their solutions, review their offered pilot project, and answer questions.
The current lineup of Leading Cities’ AcceliGOV pilot offerings are:
Rego smart waste management platform: Rego is transforming the waste management landscape with its AI-driven, photo-based waste audit platform. This tool allows cities to perform waste audits with unprecedented ease and accuracy, eliminating the need for manual sorting and data entry. By providing ongoing waste reporting that integrates seamlessly with other tools and certification applications, Rego helps cities on their journey to zero waste.
“Rego aims to help cities on their journey to zero waste with data-driven waste audits powered by AI-assisted photos. Its software for waste reporting cuts the unnecessary labour time spent digging through trash and manually adding data into Excel sheets,” said Josh Mastromatto, CEO of Rego.
Flash advanced weather forecasting: Flash leverages AI to predict lightning events with unprecedented accuracy. By providing essential lead times, Flash’s technology is indispensable for industries and emergency services that rely on timely weather information to safeguard operations and lives against the capricious nature of severe weather. “The Flash Weather AI pilot will change the way local governments look at the impacts of weather, transforming cities from reactive to all Mother Nature has to offer to proactive,” said Jason Deese, CEO and founder of Flash.
HAH Parking intelligent urban parking solution: HAH Parking introduces an all-in-one parking management solution that addresses one of the most persistent urban challenges: parking congestion. By automating parking operations, implementing dynamic pricing, and providing real-time data analytics, HAH Parking reduces traffic congestion, increases revenue collection, and enhances the overall urban experience.
“Our no-cost pilot programme is a game-changer for smart cities, offering a seamless, sustainable parking solution that not only reduces costs and traffic but also enhances the overall quality of life for the community,” said Rocky Vitali from HAH.
Infiltron quantum-ready cybersecurity tool: Infiltron Software Suite is at the forefront of cybersecurity, offering a comprehensive tool to prepare cities for the quantum age. The Quantum Readiness Assessment Tool evaluates a city’s current cybersecurity posture, identifies vulnerabilities, and implements post-quantum encryption to safeguard critical data and infrastructure. “As quantum computing advances, the potential for unprecedented cyber threats grows. Our tool ensures that cities are not just prepared, but protected against these future challenges,” said Chastity Wright, CEO of Infiltron.
Eagleridge advanced wastewater treatment technology: Eagleridge Innovations tackles the critical issue of wastewater management with its innovative MicroPoP technology. Designed to enhance the efficiency of sludge treatment processes, MicroPoP reduces sludge volume, cuts operational costs, and significantly improves water quality. This technology is particularly vital for cities seeking sustainable solutions to manage their wastewater systems more effectively.
“MicroPoP is at TRL 7-8 and we are seeking a host site for a technology demonstration project,” said Erik Rehtlane of Eagleridge. “A demo project also builds local economic growth as we will build the company where the demo project is – with the aim of inviting and showing the world MicroPoP.”
