Yiu-Shing Pang of UK Power Networks will share how the electricity distribution operator’s open data programme can help to accelerate the journey to net zero.
Yiu-Shing Pang (YSP): Coordinated effort – lots of organisations are working towards common goals, there are synergies and learnings that we can all benefit from. Cities are naturally complex with dozens of stakeholders including utilities, local government, businesses and residents, and so is coordination of our activities.

YSP: Finding out what other organisation and individuals are doing in the data space. I want to walk away from this summit inspired with new ideas and opportunities to explore.
YSP: Our Open Data programme has been a success – we were fast to launch it, and continue to share our learning, experience and advise fellow network operators in GB and abroad, and even beyond the energy sector. We recognise our role in providing open data to facilitate our customers’ plans – whether it is to connect a solar farm or to install electric vehicle charge points. We are also learning from other private companies through our membership to the Industry Data for Society Partnership.
