Jonathan Carr-West, chief executive of the Local Government Information Unit, says tackling climate change is a universal issue so collaborative events like Cities Climate Action Summit are essential.
Jonathan Carr-West (JCW): To work together. Tackling climate change is a universal issue and here at Local Government Information Unit (LGIU) we think that there’s power in developing shared solutions to common problems.
That’s one of the things we do as a local government membership organisation, and why we are so supportive of events like the Cities Climate Action Summit that encourage sharing and collaboration.

JCW: As I said, at the LGIU we are all about sharing and collaborating. We are excited about coming to the Summit to learn from leading cities outside of our network, and to then share those stories and ideas with all our members. We’d also love to have the opportunity to connect some of our LGIU members with other cities we meet at the event, with a view to them hopefully building relationships and collaborating in the future.
JCW: We work with over 300 councils from around the world, ranging from big international cities to small district councils, so we couldn’t pick just one. But we are excited to meet and bring together our networks and to share examples from our LGIU member with other Summit attendees and vice versa.
The full agenda for Cities Climate Action Summit 2024 will be released soon but, in the meantime, you can find out more by clicking the button below for a taste of what’s to come and to register your place.
