UN Habitat global chief heat officer joins line-up for Cities Climate Action Summit

SmartCitiesWorld has unveiled the latest line-up of speakers at its Cities Climate Action Summit (CCAS), taking place on June 26-27 in London.

It includes Eleni Myrivili, global chief heat officer, UN Habitat and Arsht-Rock, a leading voice on urban heat. She will deliver the keynote speech on day one and share her expertise on strategies for building heat-resilient cities.

The climate event for cities 

The Cities Climate Action Summit offers a unique platform for city leaders, policymakers, and sustainability experts to connect, collaborate, and accelerate progress towards a climate-resilient future.

An official London Climate Action Week event, it takes place online on 26 June and in-person on 27 June at London’s iconic County Hall building overlooking the River Thames and aims to be the most action-oriented climate event for cities.

Joining the diverse line-up of expert speakers at Cities Climate Action 2024 are:

• Rio Ricardo, Mayor, Braga City Council: Mayor Ricardo will showcase Braga’s innovative approach to sustainable urban development. 
• Anna Lisa Boni, Deputy Mayor, Municipality of Bologna: Deputy Mayor Boni will discuss Bologna’s impactful initiatives on climate mitigation and adaptation. 
• Carlos Evans, director, Office of Environmental Quality and Sustainability, City of Dallas: Evans will offer valuable insights on using data to identify and correct climate inequity.
• Miles Ashton, local green investment lead, Green Finance Institute: Ashton brings his knowledge of green finance mechanisms to empower cities in achieving their climate goals. 

Our international line-up of city leaders, climate experts and organisations will deliver a mix of roundtables, panel debates, intimate fireside chats, real-world case studies and dynamic discussion. The Summit will build on 2023’s central themes of policy development, climate financing, and technology deployment.

The latest speakers join a previously announced line-up of sustainability and climate leaders from global cities such as Boston, Copenhagen, Coral Gables, Dallas, Greater Manchester, Helsinki, Kyiv, Miami, New York, Prague, London, Los Angeles, San Diego and Sunderland.

Together, they will ignite discussions and inspire action on critical issues like urban heat, green infrastructure, clean transportation, and innovative financing solutions.
