Roundtable (26 June): Energy efficiency and the transition to renewables - where are cities and what are the priorities?
The Cities Climate Action roundtables bring together key stakeholders from local authorities, technology providers and investors to generate innovative ideas and practical strategies for unlocking the challenges we face about climate action. They run during the Cities Climate Action Summit (26-27 June) - which is also held during London Climate Action Week.
This roundtable runs in a closed room format. Each session will allow up to 15 delegates to discuss the topics in question and will be moderated by one of the SmartCitiesWorld team.
Roundtable Overview
Questions of efficiency and conservation are key to climate adaptation strategies for cities, and retrofitting of buildings (lighting systems, building management systems, HVAC etc, solar panels etc) represents some of the remaining low hanging fruit for cities dealing with the climate crisis. On the other side of this, cities also need to be involved in decisions on the transition to clean energy, such as where new infrastructure should be built to ensure a just transition. In this roundtable, a group of city representatives and solutions providers will come together to answer:
- What strategies can cities adopt to improve efficiency and conservation in the built environment?
- How can cities enhance the resilience and reliability of their energy and utility systems?
- How can cities transition to renewable and clean energy sources, or influence the transition if their energy sector is privately operated?
